Many Japanese Americans living abroad are unable to trace their roots due to social and environmental changes.
Until now, roots research has been difficult for Japanese Americans living abroad. The only way to get a satisfactory result was to come to Japan and investigate on your own, or rely on local acquaintances and contacts.
Even if foreign experts are requested, it is difficult to conduct a detailed literature survey from overseas because Japan lags behind in the digitization of records, and many records are still only available at museums and libraries.
In addition, the old documents, which are important historical documents for researching Japanese ancestors, are difficult to read by specialists from overseas, as most Japanese people cannot read them. For this reason, until now there has been no service in the world to meet the needs of Japanese Americans.
In an effort to overcome this situation, we offer roots research services for Japanese Americans.
Specifically, at the request of Japanese Americans around the world, we obtain the family registers of the client's ancestors, check passport draft records at the Diplomatic Reference Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and research documents at the National Diet Library, local archives, etc.
As time goes further back in time, information on ancestors cannot be traced in family registers (the Meiji 19 style family register is the oldest that can be obtained) and can only be traced in old documents such as historical registers. We can also research such ancient documents. In some cases, we can help you find relatives in Japan and reconnect with you.
